The Colosseum (also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre) is one of the largest and most impressive structures of ancient Rome. It was completed in 80 AD and could hold up to 50,000 spectators. It was primarily used for gladiatorial contests, animal hunts, and mock naval battles.
